Argentine Convergence at SXSW

Argentina is set to make a real impact at SXSW 2014, participating in a series of events across SXSW Music, Film and Interactive.

On Saturday, March 8th, at 5:00pm, learn about the causes and consequences of the Argentine IT industry’s fast growing export market at Argentina's Creative & IT Sector in the US. This panel, presented by Cecilia Nahon (The Ambassador to the Argentine Republic in the US) will provide transparency about demographic, cultural, social and economic factors directly impacting Argentina as an Information Technology Outsourcing partner, and will shed light on how Argentina has become a key creative player in the global economy.

At Can we beat Dreamworks and Pixar from Argentina, Diego Rosner (executive producer at Buenos Aires based Animation studio Catmandu), will discuss the potentials and hurdles for Argentina’s film industry as well as his own experiences in producing ‘Foosball’, the highest grossing Argentine film of all time. As part of the Digital Domain, this session will be open to all Film, Interactive, Gold and Platinum registrants on Monday, March 10th, at 12:30pm.

On March 7th at 6:30pm, SXSW Film will screen the North American premiere of independent Argentine feature, The Desert - a doomed story of a love triangle in a post-apocalyptic world. See additional screening times here.

The Argentine Pavilion in the Trade Show (open from March 9-12) , brings it all together, showcasing the many valuable investment opportunities offered by Argentina’s flourishing technology industry. Don’t miss their party at the Pavilion, on Tuesday, March 11th, from 2-4pm.
