Every year, SXSW Comedy teams up with some of the most creative names in the industry to bring a full week of live comedy shows, panels, and parties to Austin. Our 2014 schedule -- which runs from March 8 - March 15 -- continues this tradition with over 40 events. Next month, we’ll be partnering with amazing content creators (like Above Average and Funny or Die), innovative curators (like Soundcloud and Rooftop Comedy), and hit networks (including IFC and TBS).

Kicking things off, we have the SXSW Comedy Opening Party, presented by NBC’s Late Night with Seth Meyers. Join us at Buffalo Billiards on Saturday, March 8 for drinks and fun from 10:30pm til late.

We’ll also have a special afternoon event with SXSW Film: The Doug Benson Movie Interruption, which will feature a film from Drafthouse head Tim League's personal archives soundtracked by a live comedy show.

And, making its return to the stage, talk show (and Showtime series) The Green Room with Paul Provenza (The Aristocrats) will bring an eclectic mix of comedy’s brightest minds together to discuss and debate their craft -- plus, host Provenza is giving SXSW a couple of chances to catch unique standup show, Set List.

This year, we’re working with acclaimed independent theaters The Creek and The Cave, Gotham Comedy Club, and The Upright Citizens Brigade to highlight popular shows from both coasts. We’re excited to welcome ASSSSCAT -- possibly the world’s most famous longform improv show, it’s been selling out weekly at the UCB since 1996. The SXSW cast will be led by UCB co-founder Matt Besser, with monologues from Arrested Development’s Jeffrey Tambor.

Of course, it wouldn’t be SXSW Comedy without a lineup of live podcasts, recorded from the Esther’s Follies stage. Next month, we’ll host some chart-topping shows, including Girl on Guy with Aisha Tyler, Smartest Man in the World with Greg Proops, and Earwolf hits improv4humans with Matt Besser and Comedy Bang! Bang! with Scott Aukerman. And, thanks to Yahoo, Comedy Gives Back will livestream a global fundraiser, with proceeds benefiting Feeding America.

SXSW Comedy will announce a complete lineup and schedule in the coming weeks. Remember: If you’ve got a SXSW badge, you’ve got access to SXSW Comedy shows.
