Jimi Hendrix changed rock and roll forever with his unique, dynamic and electric style.

SXSW and the United States Postal Service have teamed up to present A Jimi Hendrix Celebration - a free and open to the public showcase taking place the evening of Thursday, March 13th on the Outdoor Stage at Butler Park.

Curated by Wayne Kramer, this Jimi Hendrix celebration will include guitar luminaries Wayne Kramer (MC5), Slash (Guns N’ Roses, Velvet Revolver), Rusty Anderson (Paul McCartney), Dave & Phil Alvin, Robby Krieger (The Doors), and Perry & Etty Farrell! The tribute will also feature Doug Pinnick (King's X), Mary Bridget Davies, and Jesse Malin. Los Lonely Boys and Vintage Trouble are the opening acts.

Just prior to the headline performance on the Outdoor Stage at Butler Park, the United States Postal Service will unveil the new, limited-edition Jimi Hendrix Forever® stamp, which is part of its Music Icons series. Last year, the US Postal Service introduced three Music Icons stamps, which included Johnny Cash, Lydia Mendoza and Ray Charles.

In addition to the onstage stamp unveiling, the Postal Service will have a Collectors’ Zone in the Sponsor Activation area at Butler Park where they will have all of the Music Icons stamps available for purchase and give music fans a chance to take & share photos.

The SXSW Outdoor Stage at Butler Park is open to the public with free Guest Pass wristbands, available in advance or on-site at the event. See our Guest Pass site for more information.
