Finalists Announced for the 2020 SXSW Art Program

We are proud to announce the 2020 SXSW Art Program finalists. These 33 installations were narrowed down from hundreds of entries to make it to the final round. Now the SXSW Art Program Advisory Board – including Cezanne Charles of Creative Many, Suhair Khan of Google Arts & Culture, Kim Cook of Burning Man, and more – will review these proposals and select the final program which will be announced in January 2020.

The SXSW Art Program showcases experiential and conceptual visual artworks that apply emerging technologies and immersive environments to spark discovery, inspiration, and connection by artists from all over the world. The SXSW Art Program had an open call to studios, designers, collectives, and individual artists.

This year’s finalists use technology as a vehicle to explore a variety of topics including the human spirit, cultural norms, and how we interact with our environment. These installations will facilitate discussions around the role of visual and digital media arts in modern society, shared spaces, and technology during the 2020 SXSW Conference & Festivals in Austin, TX from March 13-22.
