Steve Case speaks at SXSW Interactive on Saturday, March 8

Steve Case, Chairman and CEO of Revolution, takes an in-depth look at the entrepreneurial trends and ideas shaping our future in an interview with Emily Chang of Bloomberg TV on Saturday, March 8 at 3:30 pm at SXSW Interactive.

As co-founder of America Online, one of the primary players in the formative years of the Internet, Case oversaw the execution of the most influential technology platform of the modern age. Leveraging his unique insights and heralding his faith in community as the company’s greatest asset, Case helped pioneer social media with instant messaging, chat forums and content sharing. Case led AOL to become the world's largest and most valuable Internet company, with adoption by nearly half of Internet users in the U.S. during its peak; his strategic business decisions resulted in one of the best performing stocks of the 90's as well as the largest merger in business history (with Time Warner).

Case's dedication to entrepreneurship remains his greatest passion. In his role as chairman and CEO of Revolution, a Washington, D.C.-based investment firm started in 2005, Case has backed more than 30 game-changing companies including Zipcar, LivingSocial, AddThis, Lolly Wolly Doodle, Bigcommerce and Echo360. As founding chair of the Startup America Partnership, Case led the White House's effort to accelerate high-growth entrepreneurship throughout the nation. Sensing an opportunity to support entrepreneurs globally, last year Steve oversaw the merger of the Startup America Partnership and Startup Weekend. He now serves as board chairman of the newly formed entity, UP Global, dedicated to the mission of empowering entrepreneurs and their communities around the world.

Additionally, Case serves as co-chair of the National Advisory Council on Innovation and Entrepreneurship, and was a member of President Obama’s Council on Jobs and Competitiveness where he chaired the subcommittee on entrepreneurship. He currently works with the government as an active advocate for improved government policies on issues related to entrepreneurship, working across the aisle to advance initiatives that expand access to capital and talent.

Case also serves as Chairman of the Case Foundation, which he established with his wife Jean in 1997. (See Jean Case speak at SXSXW on Friday, March 7.) Together the Cases have invested in hundreds of organizations, initiatives and partnerships with a focus on leveraging the Internet and entrepreneurial approaches to strengthen the social sector. In 2010, Steve and Jean joined The Giving Pledge and publicly reaffirmed their commitment to give away the majority of their wealth to philanthropic causes.

On Saturday, March 8 join Case, one of the nation’s most respected entrepreneurs, as he explores how founders are changing to respond to changing times, the impact of politics and public policy on our most promising startups and the challenges associated with marrying vision and execution. Titled "The Rest is Rising: Entrepreneurship In America", his interview with Bloomberg TV's Emily Chang occurs at 3:30 pm in Exhibit Hall 5.
