SXSW OOT Volunteers live outside a 70 mile radius of the Greater Austin Area (Killeen to San Antonio). OOT Volunteers will be asked to supply a local Austin address when registering to volunteer. As an OOT Volunteer, the SXSW Volunteer Calls, and any in-person training(s) or venue walk-throughs outside of their arrival dates are optional.
The safety of our volunteers is a top priority. Volunteers who live close to the 70 mile radius of the Greater Austin Area are asked to consider securing accommodations closer to the Austin area. Volunteer shifts and SXSW events can run late into the night. Fatigue and other factors can lead to unsafe travel conditions, so we ask that all volunteers take into consideration their travel requirements before choosing to volunteer.
All OOT Volunteers are responsible for their own travel and accommodation expenses, however the best available rates on SXSW hotels are available once a volunteer schedule has been secured.
