Gyllenhaal had been to SXSW before, namely when Source Code was the Opening Night Film in 2011. He arrived in 2016 to support the release of Demolition and appeared at this session to discuss his career, as well as some of the challenges he took on for his various roles, such as not knowing how to box when he started work on the film Southpaw, in which he portrayed a professional fighter.
