Big data superstar Nate Silver cemented his reputation as a predictive savant on election night 2012 when he correctly called the winner of the presidential race in each of the 50 states. Shortly thereafter, his book The Signal and The Noise" shot up the Amazon bestseller charts as readers hungered for more information on the methodology behind his uncanny ability to read the future.
Whether or not you have read his book, you will want to check out the video from Silver's presentaton at the 2013 SXSW Interactive Festival. Want more where that came from? Then watch footage from March 2009 when he was part of a SXSW keynote conversation with Stephen Baker of BusinessWeek.
Can Silver repeat his November 2012 feat with the next election cycle? Probably not. In late July, Silver announced that he will move his talents from the New York Times to ESPN, where he will focus primarily on sports-related predictions. Speaking of sports, look for SXSW Interactive to feature more content related to athletes and pop culture in March 2014.
