Creativity. Inspiration. Innovation. Out of the many words to describe the 2014 SXSW Interactive Festival, the three listed above sit at the top of the list. And no one reflects these elements more than the “writer who draws,” Austin Kleon. His unique insights on the creative process in the digital age will empower you to transform your ideas into reality.
Kleon is the author of two influential and best-selling books: Steal Like An Artist (Workman, 2012), an illustrated manifesto for creativity in the digital age, and Newspaper Blackout (Harper Perennial, 2010), a collection of poetry made by redacting words from newspaper articles with a permanent marker. His third book, Show Your Work!, is forthcoming from Workman Publishing in March 2014.
His work has been featured on NPR’s Morning Edition, PBS Newshour, and in The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal. New York Magazine called his work “brilliant,” The Atlantic called him “positively one of the most interesting people on the Internet,” and The New Yorker said his poems “resurrect the newspaper when everybody else is declaring it dead.” As a speaker, Kleon has participated in TedX.
