The Music Gear Expo celebrates six years in 2015 with a host of new offerings. In addition to the much loved expo portion, the show will feature a number of special activations including: the Stompbox, Shred Shed, the brand new Modular Synthesizer Space, Maker Zone and classroom space, plus the Gear Lounge, Gear Expo Store and Flatstock Stage.
Open to all registrants, showcasing artists and the general public, the Expo has become the key destination for musicians, buyers, gear and tech aficionados at SXSW. It is located adjacent to the popular Flatstock Poster Show on Level 1 of the Austin Convention Center.
The SXSW Music Gear Expo hosts a unique range of companies, from established names in the industry to independently owned up-and-comers. View the 2014 exhibitors.

The Shred Shed
Want to turn it up to 11? Visitors can crank it up in The Shred Shed, the new space outfitted with soundproof booths, amps and guitars. Guitarists can walk in, shut the door, plug in and shred away!
Hands-on access to cutting-edge music creation apps, allowing users to interface with everything from virtual guitars, keyboards and drums to mixing and DJ software.
Music Gear Expo Store
Need an extra set of strings, a pair of drumsticks or a cable? Need your guitar set-up or repaired before your gig? Have your eye on a new guitar? The Music Gear Expo Store, run by Strait Music, offers a wide range of accessories and a great selection of instruments, as well as instrument repair.
