“Telling stories about our experiences connects us to one another, to our students, and even to our own identities as teachers.” – Micaela Blei

The Moth was founded in 1997 to promote the art and craft of storytelling, and to honor and celebrate the diversity and commonality of human experience. The Moth Education Program works with young people and educators to build community through storytelling workshops, performances, and innovative workshops.

SXSW EDU 2018 kicked off with “Stories of Schooling and Getting Schooled,” a keynote session presented in conjunction with The Moth, which featured four teachers (pictured above) telling true stories from their lives inside and outside of the classroom.
