SXSW Interview: Elvis Costello

Costello, whose music career dates back to the U.K.’s mid-to-late ‘70s punk and new wave explosion, came to SXSW just after he had released The Delivery Man, composed music for a ballet, and on the heels of the re-release of his early back catalog. Among the highlights of the session were his stories about his dealings with the record industry during the early days of his career, as well as his defending his ventures into different musical styles in defiance of critics who tried to pigeonhole him. He also performed a Music Festival showcase, delivering a 28-song set with his band The Imposters.
