CNN’s Jake Tapper in Conversation with Bernie Sanders
Billed as “Bernie Sanders Town Hall,” this event was hosted by CNN's Jake Tapper. Sanders, U.S. Senator from Vermont, was still coming off his surprisingly popular, though unsuccessful, run for the Democratic Party’s 2016 Presidential nomination. At the time of SXSW 2018, he was working on efforts to increase voter turnout. He later declared his candidacy for President in the 2020 election, and though he was unsuccessful again, he remains a key figure and media celebrity from the left end of American politics.
