SXSW provides inspiration and opportunities for global professionals across a number of industries, including technology, science, music, film, and television.
Our purpose is to help creative people achieve their goals. We do this by providing career development, education, inspiration, and discovery via conference sessions, exhibitions, film and television screenings and music showcases.
SXSW proves that the most unexpected discoveries happen when diverse topics and individuals come together. SXSW 2025 will take place March 7–15 in Austin.
When does PanelPicker® open?
SXSW PanelPicker opens for speaking proposals on Tuesday, June 25 and closes on Sunday, July 21.
Community Voting will take place from August 6–18.

When do Music Festival Applications open?
SXSW Music Festival applications open on Tuesday, June 25 and close on Thursday, October 31.
- SXSW will be making donations to assist showcasing artists and non-profits that support the music community.
- Application Fee Waivers are available for specific local music organizations, including HAAM.

What is the compensation for Showcasing Artists?
We have updated our policy for SXSW 2025.
As an industry event, showcasing at SXSW provides indispensable networking, mentoring, and career development opportunities that are not a part of standard consumer-focused festivals.
If invited, showcasing artists will receive an Official SXSW Artist Registration Package, consisting of SXSW Artist Badges for each band member and one manager.
The SXSW Artist Badge is a full SXSW Music Badge (valued at $995 each) that provides each performer with the same access as a SXSW Music Badge, plus unique artist-only benefits. You will have primary access to official SXSW showcases, music industry-related conference programming, reserved hotel blocks, parties, artist-specific activations, networking opportunities, mentor sessions, and more (unless otherwise noted).
Domestic, U.S. acts can choose to receive monetary compensation ($400 total for full bands consisting of three or more performers or $175 total for a solo/duo act) in lieu of the Official SXSW Artist Registration Package. Payment is a one-time direct deposit for the act, not per member. Combinations are not permitted.
