Michael Frick has been to SXSW Music as a speaker on last year’s Jingle is Not a Four-Letter Word panel. He is an executive producer at Mophonics, a company that specializes in music production and publishing for brands and ad agencies. For the 2012 holiday season, Frick produced the jingle for this Christmas-themed eBay commercial. See him talk music licensing for television at SXSW 2014.
SXSW 2014 Panel: Exploring Mystique in the Art of Music Mastering
An expert on mastering music, Gavin Lurssen and his company, Lurssen Mastering, have been involved in quite a few GRAMMY Award-winning projects throughout the years. Last year, Lurssen mastered The Edie Adams Christmas Album, which is a compilation of Edie Adams’ “surviving early-to-mid-’50s holiday recordings from the Kovacs Unlimited television show,” according to the Lurssen Mastering blog. Gavin is returning to SXSW in 2014 to speak about the art of mastering.
SXSW 2014 Panel: Can Altruism Be The New Music Business Model?
Christopher Tyng has spent his 20 year career writing and producing songs for movies and television series. Tyng worked on the notable cartoon series Futurama and gets credit for arranging four Christmas classics on the 1999 episode “Xmas Story.” Christopher also wrote and produced the score and songs for Olive the Other Reindeer, which is Futurama creator Matt Groening's animated Christmas special. Tyng is the founder of the Grow Music Project, which helps up-and-coming artists get their best songs professionally produced free of charge.
SXSW 2014 Panel: It Takes a Village to Score a Show
Darren Drew is a partner and executive producer at In The Groove Music, a company that licenses both original and recorded music for television, movies, video games, and more. Drew and his company were involved in creating an original tune for a Budweiser commercial that counted down the 12 days leading up to Christmas and the start of the 2011 NBA season. He told Post Magazine that the jingle “was composed in just a matter of hours.” See Mr. Drew discuss music placement in television at SXSW this March.
