Written by Tayla Ridley

Have you checked out one of SXSWfm’s specialty shows yet? If not, start with The Chronolog. Chase Hoffberger and Kevin Curtin, music aficionados of the Austin Chronicle, pack their show with music from local Austin bands and give insider info on what bands to see in Austin each week.

One must-see show this weekend is My Education, a band that has performed numerous times at SXSW. My Education is hosting an all-day affair at Red 7 for the release of the vinyl edition of their debut album, 5 Popes, including remastered tracks and new mixes from the original 2002 album.

The release show will take place this Saturday, December 14th and will hold performances by some of My Education’s old friends like Winslow, Experimental Aircraft, Cue, Seven Percent Solution, A Tiger Named Lovesick, and The Swells.

Other notable acts to see this weekend include:

12/12 Suicidal Tendencies with Terror, Trash Talk, and The Inspector Cluzo at Mohawk
12/13 101X Indie Workforce Xmas: Cage the Elephant, J Roddy Walston & the Business at Emo’s
12/15 Feral Future with Perfect Pussy at Mohawk

If you prefer to hear someone tell you whose playing in Austin this weekend, as well as preview these bands, then tune in to the Chronolog today at 12 & 6 CST only on SXSWfm. You can stream SXSWfm on your mobile phone or desktop by clicking here.
