SXSW 2014 Band We Butter The Bread With Butter

We Butter the Bread with Butter (WBTBWB) - quite a peculiar name for a metal band, right? Turns out this band, which hails all the way from Berlin, started out as a joke but quickly became a serious metal band known for its experimental style and signature squealing.

While their name is something to laugh about, their musical prowess is not. With the band's 2008 album debut, Das Monster aus dem Schrank, WBTBWB explored their sound, infusing their metal-based style with electronic, rock and hardcore elements. With a unique sound and extensive touring all over Europe, WBTBWB quickly gained an almost cult like following.

Six years later, WBTBWB has released a total of three albums and one EP, with their last album being released just this last August. The 13-track album, entitled Goldkinder, is the first official U.S. release for the Berlin band. To accompany their first official American release, WBTBWB also headlined their first U.S. tour last fall. Despite having no previous album releases or exposure in the U.S., WBTBWB was very well received among American fans and left them wanting more.

Don’t worry if you didn’t catch them at Red 7 this past September! WBTBWB is set to return to the U.S. in the spring for a stop at SXSW. In the meantime, be sure to catch them out on SXSWfm! Check out the stream here on your mobile device or desktop!
