Birmingham, Alabama based soul band St. Paul and the Broken Bones made their inaugural SXSW performance just last year after lead singer Paul Janeway quit his job as a bank teller to pursue music full time. Lucky for us, we can expect the up-and-coming band to make a return to SXSW this year.
Forming while they recorded their four-song EP, Greetings From St. Paul and the Broken Bones, back in 2012, the explosive sextet have been named Birmingham’s Best Local Musician or Group (Pop) for 2013 by AL.com and were dubbed Daytrotter’s #8 Best Song of 2013 for their EP track "Broken Bones and Pocket Change."
Half The City is the full-length debut from the extremely talented band and it's due out February 18th. With the anticipation of the upcoming album, St. Paul and the Broken Bones have taken the blogosphere by storm. From Paste Magazine to NPR Music, all are in agreement: St. Paul and the Broken Bones is the next big thing.
St. Paul and the Broken Bones will definitely be a showcase you don’t want to miss. Until then, you can listen to their greatness today! Tune in to SXSWfm’s Americana World Headquarters on the 6's and 12's (CST) for a feature on their new album! Stream us here on your mobile device or desktop.
