Matt Barnes, aka Forest Swords, applies his skills as an artist, designer, and producer to transport his listeners into a world of fluid music filled with complex effects and dark textures.
Dagger Paths, one of Barnes’ earlier EPs, received notable attention from the underground electronic music scene for its organic compositions and experimental productions. In 2010, Dagger Paths was featured on Pitchfork’s Top 50 Records of the Year and named Album of the Year by FACT magazine.
After suffering from hearing problems, Barnes took his time to release new music. Working from his home, this UK native formed Engravings, the follow-up album to Dagger Paths. Released in August of 2013, Engravings evokes a bleak and chilling sensation. Furthermore, Barnes brings art and photography to accompany his new album and extend the vision of his music.
