Purity Ring at SXSW 2012

Megan James and Corin Roddick make up Canadian duo, Purity Ring. Musically inclined since their young teens, the two came together in 2010 to create Purity Ring. Their 2012 album, Shrines, was full of monumental tracks with quality lyrics and catchy tunes. Since their album release, they have only grown in talent and fame by releasing various collaborations and remixes.

One of their biggest tracks out now is their remix of Lady Gaga’s “Applause.” The track was released on Gaga’s Applause Remix EP that dropped on September 30th, along with remixes from Empire of the Sun, DJ White Shadow, and plenty of others. We can also find Purity Ring doing more than remixing Gaga’s newest pop hits. Danny Brown, another SXSW veteran, released his newest album, Old, this past Tuesday. This album featured the track “25 Bucks” with Purity Ring as the featured artist. With this track, their remix of Gaga’s “Applause,” and their growing popularity, we are beginning to see and hear Purity Ring in many places.

They are currently working on a new album, so hopefully we can all get our ears on their upcoming tracks soon. Until then, tune in to EDJ today at 12pm, 6pm, & 12am CDT to catch Purity Ring’s latest remix. Listen to SXSWfm on your smartphone or desktop by clicking here.
