Some helpful informationals:
One day I was out and about and I heard these sublime indie sounds with some delightful New Order undertones and quickly started Shazaming away and away and it was Beach Fossils over and over. Since then they've been a fave and there's loads of excitement about their second album, Clash the Truth, which just came out last month.
Oh, it gets dark. This edition of Filmmakers in Focus takes on some of the filmmakers in our Midnighters section. Vincenzo "Cube" Natali is back with Haunter; Calvin Reeder brings us into the mind of The Rambler; and Simon Barrett does double duty as You're Next helmer, and one of the many directors on S/V/H/S.
An Austin institution, the Alamo Drafthouse is as much a part of local lore as breakfast tacos and Willie Nelson, and SXSW will once again be hosting a whole range of films in some of their unique theaters.
The Alamo Ritz is in the heart of 6th Street, with two great theaters that allow you to order food and drinks (including liquor!) from the comfort of your seat. There's a whole host of film options, including Midnighters, Visions, Documentary and Narrative Spotlight categories and more!

SXSW Interactive brings together an amazing array of digital creatives from across the United States and around the world. While in Austin, these attendees learn, network, laugh, and build connections that lead to life-long relationship. Another activity that is vital to the SXSW experience is helping to support organizations that help improve our global community. For 2013, the two organizations that SXSW is helping to support are Architecture for Humanity and the Electronic Frontier Foundation.
Marking 10 years of official SXSW showcases, Detroit's Small Stone Records returns to Headhunters (720 Red River) with some of the finest in heavy rock. This year's Small Stone showcase is headlined by New Orleans veterans Suplecs and Connecticut upstarts Lord Fowl, and features Virginia's Freedom Hawk and Texan natives Wo Fat along with Luder, Supermachine and Mellow Bravo. For lovers of classic guitar and motor-ready grooves, it gets no better than Small Stone, and with a decade under their belts, they still throw a party like none other. Expect the epic.
I've long been an admirer of Mr. Jim James and he's long been a pal o' mine. I first saw My Morning Jacket at SXSW in 2002, an event that charted my future on an interesting course for ten years. I've watched him stretch and grow musically and as a person and have always been impressed by his desire to explore and not lead a life that is stagnant in any way.
Regions of Light and Sound of God, his first major foray outside the boundaries of MMJ, is a beautifully paced cruise through Jim's universe and what it means to wonder, what it means to be alive.
