SXSW will be showcasing more Colombian acts this year than we've ever had in the past. With the help of the Colombian Government, there will be an entire showcase dedicated to the country's vibrant music scene. Among the artists is a wide spectrum of musical styles ranging from the thrash metal sounds of Raton Perez to latin hip-hop groups Choc Quib Town and Bomba Estereo, who take the traditional, tropical sounds of the Colombian coast and blend it with contemporary hip-hop. On the more tranquil side, Poper, who shares band members with Colombian superstar Juanes, will be adding its pop/indie influence to the mix. Music in Colombia is thriving, and the rest of Latin America and the US are starting to take notice of bands like these using genres authentic to their country and that of others to create an innovative sound.
Also making the trip to Austin will be Monareta, Don Tetto, Diva Gash, Monica Giraldo, Verde3, and Doctor Krapula.
