Aarron Walter Talks About the Next Generation of Web Talent

aarron_walter.jpg"No industry can sustain itself," writes Aarron Walter in an essay published this week on A List Apart "if it doesn’t master the art of cultivating new talent—an art that requires close ties between practitioners and educators. Passively watching education struggle to bridge the divide only contributes to the problem. Aren’t we all sick of complaining about the problem in our companies, in our classrooms, and at every conference? It would seem so, because there’s a movement afoot." His article goes on to explain the mission of the WaSP (Web Standards Project) Education Task Force to bridge this gap between institutions of learning and industry professionals. Learn more about this mission on Monday, March 16 at the 2009 SXSW Interactive Festival, when Walter will host a panel titled "No Web Professional Left Behind: Educating the Next Generation". And speaking of the move to better prepare the next generation, also read the "Elevate Web Design at the University Level" essay on A List Apart. This one is written by Leslie Jensen-Inman, who will be participating on the "Color Angels, Episode 1: Colors: It's Not Black and White" session at this year's SXSW.
