When the reasons why the electric car has yet to hit mainstream popularity yet are listed, they usually focus on technical specs. An electric car can only drive this many miles before it needs a charge, etc. But if you listen to the "Goodbye Oil: Accelerating the Electric Car Movement" panel from SXSW Interactive 2011, you'll hear many more specific points as to why the electric car hasn't hit its peak.
