SXSW 2011 Music Panel: Women in the Recording Studio
In the world of recording/music production, women make up less that 5% of the workforce. The Women's Audio Mission (WAM) is trying to change that statistic by providing hands-on-training, career counseling and job placement to women and girls in the media technology field. WAM's Founder and Executive Director, Terri Winston, was at SXSW this year as the moderator of the panel Women in the Recording Studio. Terri brought together a stellar group of women in the industry that shared their studio experiences and offered valuable advice to artists and future producers alike. This group included Ann Minicieli, longtime engineer for Alicia Keys and founder of Jungle City Studios, GRAMMY winning producer/engineer Trina Shoemaker, and GRAMMY nominated vocal producer/engineer Emily Wright. In this clip, the panelists discuss what skills they possess that have helped them succeed in the music business.
