Matthewdavid at SXSW 2012

Have you ever wanted to travel to outer space? Well, if you don't happen to be one of the 705 people selected to possibly be the first humans on Mars or an astronaut, check out today's episode of Floored for two songs that give off a deep-space feel with heavy R&B.

Floored host Jes Elliot will be selecting two tracks from experimental producer Matthewdavid's forthcoming album In My World. Matthewdavid, whose actual name is Matthew McQueen, played SXSW back in 2012, a year after his debut solo album Outmind dropped. While the Los Angeles-based producer had collaborated with a bunch of artists, Outmind showcased what he could do on his own.

Aside from creating beats, McQueen also founded and heads Leaving Records, an L.A. record label. In My World is dropping on Brainfeeder, an indie label founded by Flying Lotus, who has shown up on past Matthewdavid releases.

Now, Matthewdavid is back with his next solo album dropping on Tuesday, July 1, and SXSWfm's Floored has a preview of sorts. Tune in at 12 p.m. & 6 p.m. CST to catch two songs from the album. Both tracks have ambiances that reek of dense hip-hop and R&B influences and futuristic vocal reverb; either could easily be the next club slow-jam hit. If you miss the show, don't worry -- check out the SXSWfm SoundCloud to stream this episode of Floored for the next two weeks.
