WFMU Showcase Friday March 19th
Jersey City's WFMU has built a strong reputation as the longest running free-form radio station in the United States and has often been called, "the best station in the country." So it comes as no surprise that these free-thinking music lovers would put together a lively showcase dead-set on throwing you around and shaking your brain with a heavy dose of "heavy, damaged, darkly, punk, weird, noisy, poppy, trippy sounds." I mean, these guys are closing the night out with a crazy Cambodian dance party delivered by Dengue Fever. This is going to be FUN.
Northwest rock legends Pierced Arrows will be turning out raw garage-punk and noise-pop. The Portland-based trio comprised of legendary members of the iconic 80's punk band, Dead Moon: Fred and Toody Cole with Kelly Halliburton. With a just right blend of out of tune and throaty vocals, Pierced Arrows stay true to a nostalgic garage rock formula, grungy and raw without being sloppy. They naturally create an edgy power-pop soundscape. Pierced Arrows have obviously been perfecting their act and fine tuning their sound for years.
Also performing is Liturgy, Speedwolf, Iron Man, Moon Duo and Shit & Shine. WFMU has teamed up with San Francisco's Aquarius Records to throw an an epic 14-act party encompassing two-stages for their Official SXSW Showcase on Friday, March 19 at Encore (formerly Spiro's).
