The LP Questionnaire/Pick Three - Scott Hutchison of Frightened Rabbit

Frightened Rabbit, The Pop Cop.jpeg
I have a major bunny "thing" as anyone who knows me can attest to. I have an alarming collection of bunny art, bunny figurines, you name it. I'm even getting some bunny ink next month. So, it's no surprise that I heart Frightened Rabbit. Seriously... I listen to tracks from The Midnight Organ Fight nearly every day and I've just got my hands on their new album, The Winter of Mixed Drinks. Bunnies aside, if they were crap I wouldn't be listening, but they're not, they're quite splendid, really, and I know I'm super looking forward to seeing them play on Thursday at the Day Stage Cafe at 1.00.

Singer/lyricist Scott Hutchison hails from Selkirk, Scotland and is afraid of heights. Heights being anything above three rungs on a ladder.

He loves the Guardian Quick crossword and likes white shoes (and dirty white shoes).

He is slowly going bald... on his head. Let me qualify that this is something he included for me and not an observation that I'm making.

He's never met Sting but has watched him through binoculars from a tree.

Have a few laughs with his...

1. Pretend you’re 15. Name three songs you'd put on a mix tape for your girlfriend/boyfriend. The year is 1996, and the songs are "This Is The One" by The Stone Roses, "Betterman" by Pearl Jam and "The Only One I Know" by The Charlatans.

2. Which evil villain would make the best President? Sting

3. What was your favorite cartoon as a child? I was a Hero Turtles kind of chap.

4. What superpower do you wish you had? Turning water into wine.

5. What would the title of your autobiography be? Good at the Bad Stuff

Pick Three
Broken Bells: I'm intrigued to see the live set up. What I have heard I liked a lot - though I'll probably miss this cos there'll be a day-long queue...

Mariachi El Bronx: I've heard a few songs, but I've been told they are one of the finest live acts around at this point. Perfect for a drunken night in Austin.

Billy Bragg: I've actually only just started listening to his stuff. Some things take a while to get round to... This is a great opportunity to see him for free too.

I still always refer to Sting as "Stink" because of that SNL "DeMarco Brothers" sketch with Chris Parnell and Chris Kattan where they audition to be his backup dancers. Back in a bit with more of the goods from The Whigs and Wave Pictures. Before this is all over I've got Margaret Cho, Linus of Hollywood, Andrew W.K. and more coming your way. Past posts have been packaged nicely and wrapped up with a bow here.

That Twitter thing is still going on @sxsw and @mspark. Please email rabbits of any variety to musicblog@sxsw.com
