Monday Evening: Dewey Winburne Community Service Award at Scholz Garden
Want to meet 10 Austin-area leaders who are using the power of new media to improve out city? Then be sure to attend the ceremony for the Dewey Winburne Community Service Award, which occurs Monday evening, March 15 at 6:00 pm at Scholz Garden (1607 San Jacinto). One of the founders of the SXSW Interactive Festival, Dewey knew that emerging media is the most powerful tool in helping to level the playing field between the haves and have nots in our society. A decade after his untimely passing in 1999, we think that the SXSW Interactive Festival still strongly embodies this belief.
The ten Dewey honorees for 2010 are Meredith Beal (Lasting Value), Stacy Bouwman (Skillpoint Alliance), Sue Cole (River City Youth Foundation), Dario "Marty" Martinez (Eastside Memorial High School), Gordon Montgomery (gmeta.com), Melanie Moore (Badgerdog Literary Publishing), Maria Morrissey (Austin Kiva Group), David Neff (Lights.Camera.Help.), Ken Starks (The Helios Project), and Angela-Jo Touza-Medina (caritasofaustin.org). Please join us Monday evening, March 15 at Scholz to help celebrate their achievements. Networking begins at 6:00 pm and the ceremony starts at 7:00pm. No badge required to attend!!
