Bring the Whole Family to Maker Faire this Weekend

Maker Faire The Second Annual Maker Faire will invade Austin this weekend with over 400 Makers from around the world and their DIY (Do-It-Yourself) creations. Put together by Make Magazine and Craft Magazine, the program features events like RoboGames, rocket making and launching, Edible Austin's Food Maker Pavilion, new alternative vehicles and a life-sized mouse trap.

"We want people to leave feeling inspired—that they too can create things, express themselves, and engage the world around them. Our goal is to resuscitate the spirit of American creativity and innovation!" said Event Director Sherry Huss.

Organizers are expecting about 40,000 people at this year's Faire, which will start on Saturday at 10am and wrap up on Sunday at 6pm at the Travis County Expo Center. The Austin Chronicle and SXSW Film and Interactive will have a booth, so come by for a chance to win a free registration to the Interactive festival next March.

Advance ticket prices are available at Whole Foods Market Downtown and Austin Children's Museum until Friday.
