YouTube Treats: Munch Munch

Munch Munch dances to the beat of their own drum-kit. As you can see in the video for their song "Cyclorama", This energetic Bristol quartet has a reputation for their eccentric, instrument-swapping live performances. Munch Munch make a wonderful ruckus with two keyboards, two drum-kits, a glockenspiel, and an ADD-esque energy. I've never seen them live, but I imagine them to be much like a team version of McGyver - making something quite impressive by means previously unimaginable.

Munch Munch started out as a laptop project between Richard Manber and Thomas Carrell, but have since recruited Jack O'Connor and Sarah Louise Renwick to collaborate on this creative concoction. While ideas are written individually, songs are molded collectively with a strong focus on unconventional structure to keep things interesting. Munch Munch draws from hardcore, electronic, and pop influences. The result is a layered orchestration of fuzzy build-ups and hyper group sing-a-longs. The raw quality promises that each live performance will provide a unique, enthusiastic experience.

Munch Munch is a band who challenges themselves to constantly evolve, create and entertain. That being said, I'm pretty excited to check these guys out at their showcase at Beauty Bar Wednesday, March 17th. Register today and I'll see you there!
