Venturing to SXSW for the first time this year is Choo Choo, a band hailing all the way from Bern, Switzerland. Choo Choo will showcase their eclectic style of garage rock laced with 60's beat, power-pop and soul at this year’s music festival. We recently asked Choo Choo what their expectations are of this year's festival, as well as what bands this international act is excited to see.

In addition their showcase at BD Riley's Thursday at 9:00pm with The Hot Melts, Geeks, and Ipso Facto, they are looking forward to rocking around Austin and getting to know new people, meeting other bands, and finally seeing in person some of their online friends. Some of their personally favorite music is Under my Thumb by The Rolling Stones, or just about any Beatles song.

We asked singer/guitarist Dan (pictured second from right) what three SXSW showcases he's most looking forward to seeing:

1. The Black Lips
Because they’re just an incredible live band. Also we have some fantastic memories about seeing them the last time. Last time we saw them at the Magic Stick in Detroit. We were recording our debut album at Ghetto Recorders Studio in town and after a long day of recording we all went to see The Black Lips. It was the perfect show at a perfect moment in our lives.
2. Crystal Antlers
Love their chaotic yet soulful sound. Judging from the live show outtakes I’ve seen on YouTube this band should be great fun to experience live.
3. The Drones
I love the Drones. Their sound is unique. Their singer has such a special voice and a unique way of singing. I got all of their records but never had the chance to catch them live. So I’m excited that they’re at SXSW. Hope I’ll make it to their showcase.
