Style X Runway Shows Get Big Boost, SXSW Musicians Get Big Gifts!
Style X has an impressive lineup of emerging designers set to do pop-up booths and noteworthy fashion industry insiders to bring insight to eight panels during the event. Today, Style X announced another important aspect of its second-year event: the musician-model runway shows and the musician-gifting program which will feature esteemed collections like Rachel Rachel Roy, Kendra Scott, Cynthia Steffe, and Mishka.
“We have made major upgrades to Style X from our debut last year to make it an even bigger part of South by Southwest,” said Joah Spearman, co-founder and executive producer of Style X. “The runway shows have been one of our primary areas of focus, and we believe these free shows will be a can’t-miss part of the Music festival.”
A few of the Official SXSW Showcasing musicians set to participate in the shows include:
Andrea Balency
Blitz The Ambassador
Candy Claws
Grace Woodroofe

Over the years, Rachel Roy has become a favorite of some of the world’s most powerful and famous women ranging from Oprah Winfrey, Michelle Obama and Halle Berry to Gwyneth Paltrow, Kate Hudson and Kim Kardasian.
“I have always been moved and inspired by emerging talent. Music goes hand in hand with fashion; it can change an overall feel of a collection, embedding raw energy and emotion,” said Rachel Roy.
Austin-based designer Kendra Scott has grown from an extra bedroom and $500 to a renowned collection with three branded stores in Austin, Dallas and Beverly Hills with a following that counts Eva Longoria, Katherine Heigel, and Sofia Vergara, among others.
“Austinites are also so supportive of local businesses like my own, and I am so proud to be part of such a big city that still has that small town love for one another,” said Kendra Scott.
Cynthia Steffe is recognized as one of America’s leading contemporary fashion lines. The Cynthia Steffe collection has a slew of celebrity fans, including Jessica Simpson, Scarlett Johansson, Mena Suvari, Anne Hathaway, Teri Hatcher, Debra Messing, Kristin Davis, Katie Couric and Marcia Gay Harden.
Mikhail Bortnik & Greg Rivera launched Mishka from their Brooklyn apartment to channel their art & illustration backgrounds. The collection has since grown and Action Bronson, Das Racist and Stalley are just a few of the emerging rappers known to wear Mishka regularly.
Style X takes place in the Austin Convention Center and is free and open to the public on both Friday & Saturday, March 16 & 17, from noon to 8 p.m. each day. The runway shows take place between 6:15 p.m. and 7:15 p.m. each night. Media desiring special seating, should contact Style X via email immediately at joah@avecmode.com.
