Albarn, best known as the frontman for iconic Britpop act Blur and as the visionary behind the multi-platinum selling and Grammy Award-winning virtual band Gorillaz, will give attendees a preview of his upcoming full-length solo album, Everyday Robots, set to be released on April 29th. His recent foray into solo work comes on the heels of collaborations with African musicians in Mali and the release of his Alan Moore inspired production, Dr Dee: An English Opera.
Prior to Albarn is singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist St. Vincent, who is performing at SXSW following the release of her new self-titled album out next Tuesday, February 25th.
Rounding out the lineup are R&B singer Kelis and up-and-coming punk band Perfect Pussy. Kelis’ new studio album, Food, will be out on April 22nd; and Perfect Pussy, recently signed to the Captured Tracks label, will release their debut studio album immediately following SXSW on March 18th.
The NPR Music showcase will be on the evening of Wednesday, March 12th at Stubb's (801 Red River).
