The MusiCares Challenge

If you're friends with longtime SXSW veteran Tom DeSavia on Facebook or follow him on any social media, you're treated to his unending wit and true love for music.

Drafting off the wake of the ALS ice bucketing, Tom started the MusiCares Challenge benefitting the Grammy's charity. MusiCares provides a safety net of critical assistance for music people in times of need.

The challenge is spreading far and wide and has garnered DeSavia some nice press via the LA Times.

If music is a seminal part of your life, consider doing your own MusiCares Challenge and tagging your pals to keep the love going.

Here's the dets:

The #MusiCaresChallenge

Take a photo with a record (or cd or tape or iPhone/iPad graphic) that helps make life better for you. Music that you reach for when you need comfort, or just want a soundtrack to that beer you're drinking. Then donate any amount you can (minimum $5) to MusiCares.

Share your photo, tag some people to do the same and help some souls in need. They could be the very souls that touch yours with their song.

And if you're an Austin local, don't miss SXSWfm's HAAM benefit on Tuesday, September 23. It's sure to be good times!
