Take a fascinating look at songwriting with Grammy Award-winning troubadour Rodney Crowell. Scott Goldman of the Grammy Foundation will interview Mr. Crowell and offer a rare glimpse into the process and inspiration of songcraft at the SXSW 2014 Music Conference.
Crowell’s timeless songs have been covered by luminaries such as Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings and George Strait, among many others. He recently collaborated with longtime friend Emmylou Harris to record the critically lauded Old Yellow Moon, a duets album that won the pair two Americana Music Awards and a 2014 Grammy Award for Best Americana Album.
On the heels of Old Yellow Moon, Crowell is preparing a new album, titled Tarpaper Sky, set for release April 15th. Tarpaper Sky marks a reunion of the creative partnership of Crowell and his musical accomplice Steuart Smith, who was an integral part of his overall sound during the late 1980s.
Crowell will surely give us an in-depth look at his songs, new and old, at his Songwriter Session on Thursday, March 13th in Austin Convention Center Ballroom E at 12:30pm. Tune in to Americana World Headquarters today (Monday) at 6pm CDT to hear some of Rodney Crowell's music.
