SXSW Music Video Spotlight - Cayucas "East Coast Girl"

Written by Kristin Adams | November 1, 2013

If you're looking for a poolside sound track for the final days of hot season–one of two seasons we see here in Texas–take a listen to Santa Monica-based band Cayucas's debut album Bigfoot, which was released back in April of this year.

Denizens of the new surf-sound kingdom that seems to be ever expanding and conquering indie-rock and college radio stations, Cayucas offers the signature reverb laden vocals that a evoke summer-like feelings: slightly sun-burnt, slightly tipsy, and completely relaxed. Bigfoot, as a whole, has an informal, beachy groove that is reminiscent of bands like Vampire Weekend and Best Coast; music made for cruising around on a sunny day with the windows down, which is still possible here in Austin, for now.

The 8-track album features catchy songs like Cayucos, High School Lovers and East Coast Girl (shown above).

Cayucas is currently touring the states and has two gigs in Austin on November 10 during FunFunFun Fest. Not surprisingly, you can catch them on the west coast in the sunny sea-side town of Cayucos, California on November 16.
