One day I was out and about and I heard these sublime indie sounds with some delightful New Order undertones and quickly started Shazaming away and away and it was Beach Fossils over and over. Since then they've been a fave and there's loads of excitement about their second album, Clash the Truth, which just came out last month.
The band is the brainchild of one Dustin Payseur who was was kind of enough to send in a Pick Three, so take a minute, why don't you, to soak in that goodness.
I actually don't know much about contemporary music, but I do love what my friends are doing. In my opinion the Captured Tracks showcase is going to be the best party at SXSW.
Chris Cohen: Chris is an amazing songwriter and he has a really tight live band. They're the kind of band that reminds you that sometimes people who are actually real musicians start bands too.
Mac DeMarco: Every single show Mac and his band put on is completely different. The only thing you can expect is a lot of sarcastic improvisation and that they will be totally out of their minds. They're also a group of the nicest guys in the world.
Naomi Punk: Naomi Punk hit hard and play loud, what else do you need?
So much to see, so little time. I hope you guys are all getting your zzzzs and your B-vitamins in before we get started. There's a groovy little LPQ/P3 Archive if you're interested in seeing what other cool peeps have had to say.
I don't mind, lp
