Music Video Spotlight- BIG FREEDIA "Excuse"

Written by Kristin Adams | October 4, 2013

If there are two things that this hip-hop/bounce SXSW Showcasing Artist isn't lacking, it's boundless energy and a whole lot of sass. Big Freedia, known as the Queen of Bounce, pushes the artistic boundaries and is proud to do so.

For those who are unfamiliar, bounce is a style of hip-hop music originating from New Orleans which has been around for a few decades, but is becoming more and more popular, thanks to artists and dancers like Big Freedia. The NOLA native released her debut EP in 2010 with hit tracks like "Excuse" (preformed above) and "Almost Famous."

Big Freedia is now working on debut LP, Da Idol and has a new reality show, "Queen Of Bounce," premiered on Wednesday, Oct 2. You can catch the show on Wednesdays at 11/10 Central.

While we may not all be able to twerk, wobble and shake like the Queen, you can catch her and other SXSW Showcasing Artists on the SXSW Video Page. Click here to access all SXSW 2013 video content.
