Every day the SXSW Staff have been taking loads of fun and interesting shots around the festival. We've been posting them to our super groovy Flickr Group (which you should join -- and post to -- as well, because photographical evidence = huzzah!).

Here's a brief rundown of the first few days at SXSW (from top to bottom, left to right):

The LP Questionnaire/Pick Three - Angel Haze

Created by L Park on March 10, 2013

Angel Haze

I think Angel Haze is one of my new heroes. She's a raw, unbridled, furious, ferocious, truth teller whose music is f'ing catchy as hell.

Raised in Detroit in a Pentecostal family, she's a rape and sexual abuse survivor and feminist who could probably kick your ass. It's like every ten years or so I get introduced to these female vocalists who make me wish they'd been around when I was coming of age musically (Otep was the last).

Angel Haze, born Raykeea Wilson, is performing four times at the festival: Thursday, March 14 at Easy Tiger at 1.15 am, Friday, March 15 at The Pandora Porch at 10pm, Saturday, March 16 at Austin Music Hall at 6.30pm and again on Saturday at Cedar Street Courtyard at 1am. Plenty of opportunities to hear the stories behind the scars.

2013 SXSW Showcasing Band Escape

For the first time in South By’s history bands from Cuba will make their way across the gulf to perform in Austin. The select Cuban bands are representative of the intense metal scene that has taken hold over the past two decades. The line-up consists of Cuban metal bands Ancetor, Escape and Agonizer. From outside of the island there is Del Valle Centro, Mexico’s Motor, Brazil’s Eminence and Attomica. Each band will bring to the table their own unique spin on heavy metal.

New Madrid - "Houseboat": SXSW 2013 Showcasing Artist

Born from the rolling thunder of the Tennessee mountains, and once spread across the tri-state area, NEW MADRID is glad to finally call Athens, GA home. The band, settled in a big red barn just outside of Athens, are taking the southeast by storm. Drawing heavy influence from alt-country and noise rock alike, these young Athenians create captivating soundscapes, both tastefully dense and uniquely expansive. With reverb drenched vocals and harmonies that soar and echo over a lush and textured musical patchwork, NEW MADRID seamlessly evolved from bedroom project to polished quartet.
