The Road Most Traveled
by Chuck Ragan
As any musician knows, life on the road can be difficult. To some it's months spent away from family and friends, days of crappy food and nights in bland hotels; and the awful feeling of being uprooted and adrift both literally and figuratively. To others it can be a time of senseless inhibition, a kind of adult summer camp that bears the same emotional highs and lows: falling in love with a new place and new people, and then suddenly being stripped away from them.
Luckily, others have gone before you and can impart some warning of the snares and share in some of the nostalgia of the road's best moments.
Join Austin Lucas, Chris Shiflett, Chuck Ragan, Frank Turner, Matthew Pryor for "The Road Most Traveled: Chuck Ragan & Friends" Saturday, March 16 at 2pm in the Austin Convention Center Room 16AB where they will discuss how life as a touring artist will never be easy, but there will always be someone who has already been there to learn from. Based on Chuck Ragan's The Road Most Traveled, hear first hand experience about the struggles of day to day life on tour and what it takes to hold on to the original passions that bring an artist to the road to begin with.

Super sponsors AT&T and American Airlines came together last weekend to create one of the most productive events in all of SXSW 2013 when they hosted the "Travel Hack." AT&T Hackathons bring together accomplished and aspiring developers with tools, expert mentors and others who share their passion and complement their skills to create exciting mobile technology innovations and solution. This particular Hackathon was aimed towards rethinking how mobile apps help us get around the world. They challenged more than 60 developers to create travel apps within a 30-hour coding timeframe that incorporated unreleased APIs from both AT&T and American Airlines, then an expert panel of judges chose the 3 winners from the 15 apps that had been developed and awarded them huge cash prizes.
