A Greener Approach to SXSW

Green Mountain is helping us make all 3,500+ SXSW panelists’ footprints lighter by offsetting the estimated carbon dioxide (CO2) and other greenhouse gas emissions created by each panelist's travel and hotel stay.

Green Mountain has worked with SXSW Eco in years past on the environmental footprint of the conference as a local partner and renewable energy leader. Headquartered in Austin, Texas, Green Mountain has been part of our hometown for over 10 years, and was recently named the first LEED Platinum certified tenant space in the city. As their neighbor, and as an organization intent on increasing our positive impact on the environment, we're excited to partner with Green Mountain to ensure all panelists travel lightly this year.

Carbon offsets are investments in projects that reduce or avoid greenhouse gas emissions, allowing SXSW to balance out part of our estimated environmental impact and support the continuation of carbon-reduction projects. Part of our mission is to take responsibility for our environmental impacts and integrate sustainability into our efforts, and we’re proud to be working with Green Mountain this year to realize that mission and bring you a more eco-friendly conference!
Safe travels, and enjoy SXSW 2014!
