As connections grew stronger and conversations delved deeper, SXSW V2V opportunities abounded. A full day of sessions led by thought leaders left audiences inspired and eager to take their ideas to the next level.
The Impact of Angel Investors, led by Stephanie Burns, Founder of Chic CEO, uncovered a number of valuable insights on the pursuit of investment. This was a conversation that did not want to be missed even by the highly experienced -- audience members for this session included successful SXSW Accelerator Finalists, VegasTech members and Startup Weekend contributors.
The Tuesday keynote featured Steve Case, founder of AOL and CEO of Revolution. As a champion of startups and advocate for immigration reform, he spoke passionately about entrepreneurial leadership for our nation and implored the audience to act in sharing their voices to influence this important issue. His interview with Julia Boorstin of CNBC (titled "The Rise of the (Entrepreneurial) Rest"), focused on the need to develop thriving entrepreneurial ecosystems throughout the U.S. in order to ensure our continued leadership in innovation and economic growth.
Intriguing and thought provoking presentations by Micah Baldwin (Graphicly), Emily Best (Seed&Spark), Toby Daniels (Crowdcentric), Brian Solis (Altimeter Group), Michael Chasen (SocialRadar) and Amy Jo Martin (Digital Royalty) tapped into the heart of entrepreneurism. While working hard will get you far, each speaker reminded the audience of the importance of maintaining a life outside of the office. This refreshing sentiment was a thread carried across the event where people took an extra moment to look away from their device and connect with the person in front of them.
SXSW Film showed their Midnighter Audience Award winner from March 2013 Cheap Thrills. Attendees enjoyed this directorial debut film from E.L. Katz for its unique blend of social morality, visceral brutality and razor sharp wit.
The final night of SXSW Music Showcases by Rusty Maples, Kisses, The Chain Gang of 1974, Nightmare Air and Tashaki Miyaki kept event go-ers dancing and grooving all night in this city that never sleeps.
