Gaming industry, you have Borderlands creators Matthew Armstrong and Jimmy Sieben to thank for making your next game a bit easier to manage. The ScreenBurn at SXSW panel “Systemic Development in Borderlands: 16,164,886=1", explored the design elements and the technical systems that made Borderlands possible. With the gun count in the game reaching into eight-digit levels and counting, not to mention all the fine-tuning one might expect from attempting to balance 16,000,000+ guns, these Gearbox Software wizards sat down with the gaming populace at large to set the record straight on how systemic development was the ultimate answer for Borderlands.

One trend that could easily be spotted on the show floor of the ScreenBurn at SXSW Arcade was the undeniable direction companies were taking with their product and business strategies, namely in kicking out the “old ways of doing business,” introducing modern methods, and creating products that defied the competition. This year's Arcade was certainly all about disruption!

As many already know, it was at SXSW Interactive where Twitter first launched in 2007. Since then, both the festival and the social networking service have grown immensely with Twitter now reaching nearly 50 million tweets a day. That being said, it seemed fitting to invite Twitter co-founder Ev Williams back to SXSW to participate in a keynote interview and discuss the successes and future of Twitter.
