Big questions need big ideas. Protecting the globe from weapons of mass destruction is no easy task, and a strong work force within the U.S. government is dedicated to finding ways to reduce the risks posed by WMDs. The U.S. Department of State wants to hear your innovative ideas on ways to protect the globe now and for future generations.
SXSW Interactive is happy to present the featured session, Mobilizing Ingenuity to Strengthen Global Security, with Daniel Terdiman of CNET News in a discussion with Acting Under Secretary of State for Arms Control and International Security, Rose Gottemoeller. Rose Gottemoeller serves as Senior Adviser to the President and the Secretary of State for Arms Control, Nonproliferation, and Disarmament. Gottemoeller will talk about open source information and communication technologies for arms control verification and compliance monitoring, as well as recent open prize challenges. To participate in this interactive discussion, tweet your questions using the hashtag #StateDeptSXSW.
After a few requests from our friends up north hunkering down for the storm, we've extended our last registration deadline for SXSW 2013 to 11:59pm (CST) on Monday, February 11th. That means you have more time to get your 2013 SXSW Registration squared away. For those of you not getting buried in snow, you also have until Monday night to save up to $155 off of the walkup-rate.
We hope all those in the northeast stay safe and warm this weekend. We look forward to seeing you all in March!
Are you an entrepreneur, involved in startups, or employed in the financial industry? If so, you may have thought about the necessity of building your own financial model, yet feel it would be a daunting task. How to Build a Financial Model is a 2013 SXSW Interactive workshop, presented by Michael Robson, that aims to help others be better informed on financial models as well as to create their own basic model. To get an online sneak peek of this valuable workshop, General Assembly will be hosting a FREE live stream on February 22. This one-hour live stream will highlight some of the takeaways from the upcoming SXSW 2013 session. There will be a live Q&A, so come to the chat room with questions ready. Sign-up for this FREE live stream here: http://financialmodelsxsw.eventbrite.com/.
