Sessions at the SXSW Interactive Festival cover a multitude of topics ranging from social media, to hacktivism, to health 2.0, to privacy & security, to 21st century transportation models. While this diverse range of panels is very popular with the digital creatives who attend the event, sessions that focus on startups and entrepreneurism have seen an immense spike in attendance in recent years. Hence the addition of Startup Village, which launched at the 2012 SXSW Interactive Festival and has increased in popularity each year since then.
Startup Village consolidates all the entrepreneur-related programming to one venue (the Hilton Austin Downtown, immediately across the street from the Austin Convention Center). Startup Village also serves as home of SXSW Accelerator (the pitch competition that runs Saturday, March 8 and Sunday, March 9), as well as a variety of panels, meet ups, special events, lounges and activations. Bottom line: If you are an entrepreneur, a start-up, an investor or just someone curious about this fascinating ecosystem, then Startup Village is the place for you!
Startup Village occurs on the Fourth Floor of the Hilton Austin Downtown (500 East 4th Street).
Programming at Startup Village begins on Friday, March 7 and runs through the end of the day on Tuesday, March 11.
Startup Village is open to all SXSW Interactive, Gold and Platinum badgeholders. On Tuesday, March 11, SXSW Music badgeholders can also attend Startup Village programming.
Startup Village consists of panels, solo presentations, the SXSW Accelerator pitch competition, lounges, Startup Spotlight and assorted other activities geared towards entrepreneurs.
The SXSW Startup Spotlight shines a bright light on some of the most innovative new companies at SXSW Startup Village. Participants will demo their product, service or app in the pre-function area of the Hilton Austin Downtown within the Startup Village confines. We have created two different time slots for this event -- domestic startups will be part of the one is held on Friday, March 7 from 4:00 to 6:00pm and international startups will be showcased on Monday, March 10 from 1:30 to 3:30 pm. If you would like to be part Startup Spotlight, then please submit the form attached here.
