The Basics of Startup Village

1. Why do we have Startup Village?

By consolidating much of what already happens at SXSW Interactive into one location, Startup Village allows current and future entrepreneurs to enjoy the convenience of one space for learning and networking with investors, technology trailblazers and other entrepreneurs.

2. Is Accelerator a part of the Startup Village?

Yes, SXSW Accelerator will be the showcased event within Startup Village. SXSW Accelerator is two days of Interactive programming happening on Monday, March 12 and Tuesday, March 13 (three days if you include Music Accelerator happening on Wednesday March 14) focusing on the various key trends within technology as the event categories showcase innovative startup companies pitching their products and/or services to a panel of industry experts, early adopters, and representatives from the investment technology community. 3. Who can attend?

The Startup Village programming at the Downtown Hilton (Friday, March 9 through Tuesday, March 13) is open to SXSW Interactive, Gold, and Platinum badge-holders.

4. What type of programming will be featured at Startup Village?

Various Startup events including SXSW Accelerator, panels, Meet Ups, lounges, pitch events, and mentoring / coaching sessions related to this unique group of startup, entrepreneur, investor, and cutting-edge digital taste-makers.

5. Who would benefit from participating in the Startup Village?

Industry leaders, technology innovators, investors, startups are some of the individuals who would benefit from participating in the SXSW Startup Village events.

6. How can I submit a content-related proposal for the Startup Village for SXSW 2012?

7. What if I missed the September 30, 2011 proposal submission deadline?

Proposals submitted after the September 30, 2011 deadline will be considered according to available space. Please contact us at startupvillage@sxsw.com.

8. Who should I contact about my great idea for a panel at SXSW Interactive Startup Village?

Proposals for the 2012 SXSW Interactive event were accepted via the PanelPicker from June 20, 2011 through July 15, 2011. Email interpanels@sxsw.com for late entry information.

9. How do I register for the Ping Pong Tournament?

11. Where will the Startup Village be located?

SXSW Interactive Startup Village events will be held on the fourth floor of the Austin Downtown Hilton (500 East 4th Street). Startup Village Satellite Events held at various locations around downtown Austin.

12. Where can I find a list of scheduled Startup Village programming?

13. What is the difference between Music and Interactive Startup Village?

SXSW Music Startup Village and Accelerator will take place Wednesday, March 14 and all events will be held in the Austin Convention Center. SXSW Interactive Startup Village, Accelerator and Satellite events will take place Friday March 9 through Tuesday March 13, Startup Village and Accelerator programming will be held on the fourth floor of the Austin Downtown Hilton and Satellite Events will be held at various locations around downtown Austin.

A Startup Village Satellite event is held away from the fourth floor of the Austin Downtown Hilton. Satellite events are included in the official Satellite Village program. All satellite events occur March 9 through March 13.
