Big questions need big ideas. Protecting the globe from weapons of mass destruction is no easy task, and a strong work force within the U.S. government is dedicated to finding ways to reduce the risks posed by WMDs. The U.S. Department of State wants to hear your innovative ideas on ways to protect the globe now and for future generations.
SXSW Interactive is happy to present the featured session, Mobilizing Ingenuity to Strengthen Global Security, with Daniel Terdiman of CNET News in a discussion with Acting Under Secretary of State for Arms Control and International Security, Rose Gottemoeller. Rose Gottemoeller serves as Senior Adviser to the President and the Secretary of State for Arms Control, Nonproliferation, and Disarmament. Gottemoeller will talk about open source information and communication technologies for arms control verification and compliance monitoring, as well as recent open prize challenges. To participate in this interactive discussion, tweet your questions using the hashtag #StateDeptSXSW.

This challenge will present a unique opportunity for SXSW registrants to contribute to enhancing global security and improving how policy makers approach future constraints at combating and eventually eliminating WMDs through technology. We hope this unique opportunity will facilitate the convergence of new tech and international diplomacy.
