According to Aaron Gershenberg, managing partner at SVB, “The Brazilian economy in the next 10 years will be one of the third or fourth largest economies in the world. If you’re going to look at some diversification in your portfolio in the innovation economy, Brazil is a very natural geography to have exposure to.” Sequoia Capital, Accel, Redpoint and Intel seem to agree, having already established long-term relationships with the Brazilian startup ecosystem.

In 2012, Brazil was ranked the sixth-largest market for internet users (at 86 million) and was home to the largest group of active users on Facebook and Twitter. In the same year, the number of Brazilians with cell phones reached 123 million people and overall e-commerce grew by 20 percent. This flourishing market only continues to grow.
