Reading, processing and cataloguing all the media accounts of the 2014 SXSW Interactive Festival will continue for a few more weeks. Until this process is completed, we offer perspectives on the event from various staff members from the SXSW Interactive team. Today’s highlights come from Andrew McNeill, who manages the SXSW Interactive Awards, helps program for the SXsports track of programming and oversees SXSWorld magazine.

Most important trend from SXSW Interactive 2014: Online privacy. It was a big talking point all during 2013 and should continue to be for the rest of the year.

Favorite networking or evening event at SXSW Interactive 2014: SXsports Overtime Party at Buffalo Billiards. It was a great way to wrap up all the SXsports programming for 2014 at a great place to grab a drink during SXSW.

Favorite moment from SXSW Interactive 2014: Meeting Jurgen Klinsmann. As someone who put himself into short term credit card debt in the name of getting to South Africa for the last World Cup, shaking hands with the United States coach just months before the 2014 World Cup was an honor for me.

Most touching moment from SXSW Interactive 2014: The SXSW Gaming Awards. The first-ever Gaming Awards were a big thing for the SXSW Interactive staff, and to see the enthusiasm that crowd had for its community was incredible.

What I want to see more of at SXSW Interactive 2015: Climate change. This might be the biggest issue of our generation and it could be up to the geeks to help figure it out.
